RESOLVECX RESEARCH SERIESSTUDY #008ONGOING RESEARCH

Economics of Readiness

When does investing in frontline readiness create measurable economic value—and for whom?

CENTRAL RESEARCH QUESTION

Relative to credible existing alternatives, under what conditions do investments in frontline contact-center readiness produce positive net economic value through improved hiring fit, training completion, time-to-proficiency, retention, performance, customer outcomes, mobility, earnings, capacity, and reduced avoidable failure—and how are those costs and benefits distributed across employers, workers, education/workforce partners, customers, and the public?

Why this study matters

ResolveCX will not manufacture an ROI by multiplying weak assumptions. Economic claims must be tied to observed or defensibly estimated incremental outcomes relative to a credible counterfactual. Costs will be counted comprehensively; benefits will not be double-counted; uncertainty will be visible; stakeholder gains and losses will be separated; and negative, zero, delayed, or highly conditional returns will be reported with the same transparency as positive returns.

What the evidence currently suggests

Workforce investments such as apprenticeship can generate positive employer returns, but ROI varies widely and requires counterfactuals, full costs, persistence and benefit-capture discipline.

Evidence status: Methodologically strong / ResolveCX gap. Published evidence can establish foundations and mechanisms, but it does not establish that a ResolveCX intervention produces these outcomes.

What ResolveCX still has to learn

Observed ResolveCX costs, causal outcome effects, finance-validated unit values, buyer capture and willingness to pay.

Why this matters to the larger thesis

Economic plausibility exists; ResolveCX ROI is completely unproven until direct evaluation.

Research status and limitations

This study is being published as ongoing research. Interviews, surveys, employer data, longitudinal evidence, validation, or replication may support, narrow, contradict, or reject the current hypotheses. Preliminary observations will not be presented as industry-wide conclusions.

Questions this study helps answer

How should contact center workforce readiness ROI be measured?

Study 008 requires a credible counterfactual, complete costs, observed or defensibly estimated incremental outcomes, visible uncertainty, no double counting, and separate value calculations for employers, workers, partners, customers, and the public.

Does ResolveCX currently claim positive ROI?

No. ResolveCX-specific ROI is unproven. Study 008 is designed to determine whether there is enough incremental and capturable value to justify purchasing, funding, licensing, or piloting an intervention.
